We believe that school should be a place where the whole child is educated in a way that inspires and motivates them; school should be a place that fosters self-esteem and positive experiences.
Our elementary program understands the individuality of each child, and strives to develop skills and abilities academically, emotionally, socially and physically. We provide students a safe and comfortable learning environment, which assists each child to become a confident and capable learner.
Because each child is unique we approach each child’s education as an individual, looking at the background, interests and special abilities and talents of the child as a whole. We endeavor to provide our students with rich opportunities to develop abilities to their maximum potential.
In order to foster the natural curiosity of children, we understand that a great education requires lots of hands on learning and exposure to physical activity and nature. We believe that providing interaction through a varied and compelling learning environment we can increase the development of abstract learning, logical thinking, reading, writing, and mathematical skills. We work with each student to meet their academic levels and advance their curriculum to challenge them when needed.
Moreover, we are able to work with students in areas of their education that require strengthening and building blocks. Magnussen School approaches education with an individualized approach.
Our small classroom sizes and mixed aged classrooms provide the opportunity for younger students to learn from their older peers in a natural setting. Students are exposed to their peer’s interests and experience natural mentorship. Our program encourages students to investigate their interests and present their findings to their peers using various forms of multi-media.
We strive to bridge the divide between home and school, and value parent’s rights and responsibilities in being involved in the development and implementation of their child’s education. Our school culture values open communication and working as a team to provide each student with the most positive educational experience possible.
